Grandma'S Donuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. yeast
    1 c. milk, scalded and cooled
    1/2 c. shortening
    2/3 c. sugar
    lukewarm water and sugar
    2 eggs, well beaten
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    5 c. flour (more or less)
Preparation
    Dissolve
    yeast
    in
    1
    cup of lukewarm water and add 1 teaspoon
    of sugar.
    Add shortening and sugar to scalded milk; let cool.
    Combine yeast, milk, eggs and dry ingredients.
    Let rise until
    double;
    punch
    down.
    Roll out and cut out.
    Let rise again.
    Fry in deep fat at 350\u00b0.
    Makes 3 dozen donuts.
