Ingredients

1 c. soft butter
2 c. sugar
5 eggs
1 c. blackberry jam
3 c. flour
1 c. chopped raisins
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar until light; add eggs.
Beat well after each egg is added.
Add jam and beat well.
Add sifted flour, soda, salt, cloves and allspice, alternately with buttermilk, beating until smooth.
Stir in raisins and nuts.
Pour into 9-inch layer pans.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for about 35 minutes.
Frost with caramel frosting.
