Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced cukes
    4 small onions
    1/2 c. salt
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. white mustard seed
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. turmeric powder
Preparation
    Combine cucumbers,
    onions
    and
    salt. Cover with water and stand overnight;
    drain.
    Make
    a syrup of sugar, vinegar, white mustard
    seed,
    celery
    seed and turmeric powder.
    Bring syrup to a boil and add the cucumbers.
    Cook 15 minutes.
    Pour in jars and seal.
