Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 medium cucumbers
    3 medium onions
    1/4 c. salt
    1 c. vinegar
    1 c. water
    3/4 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. celery seed
    1/2 tsp. dry mustard
    1/4 tsp. turmeric
    1/2 tsp. ginger
Preparation
    Wash and slice cucumbers and onions.
    Combine with salt and cover with ice.
    Let stand for 3 hours.
    Mix vinegar, water, sugar and spices.
    Drain cucumbers and onions.
    Add to vinegar mixture. Heat slowly to scald.
    Do not boil! Seal in jars.
    Wait 48 hours before opening.
