Hot German Potato Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 medium onions, chopped coarsely
    4 lb. potatoes
    3/4 c. sugar
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/2 lb. bacon, diced
    3/4 c. very hot water
    3/4 c. cider vinegar
    4 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
Preparation
    Boil potatoes until tender, peeling the skins off and slice while still warm.
    Heap chopped onions in center of potatoes.
    Top with sugar, salt and pepper.
    Fry cut up bacon, stirring, until crisp.
    Skim bacon from frying pan; set aside.
    Add water and vinegar to bacon grease and bring to a boil.
    Pour over potatoes and onions and toss this mixture lightly to mix well.
    Add bacon, crumbled, last.
    Slice boiled eggs to garnish top.
    Serves 8 to 10.
