1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour
3/8 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation

Beat shortening and peanut butter until creamy. Gradually add sugars, beating thoroughly after each addition. Beat in egg and vanilla. Mix remaining ingredients and blend into peanut butter mixture. Shape dough into balls about 1-inch in diameter. Place about 2-inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Flatten each cookie. Crisscross top of each cookie with a fork. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from sheet while warm.
