Hot Portuguese Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 medium onions, chopped fine
    1 stalk celery
    1/4 tsp. anise seed
    1/2 lb. boned chicken pieces or beef stew
    1 green pepper
    1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper
    1/3 to 1/2 c. vegetable oil
Preparation
    Place all ingredients, except meat, in pan and cook over a low fire.
    Add meat, stir and cook until meat is browned.
    Fill pan to 2/3 full of water.
    Bring to a boil and put in as much rice as you prefer.
    Add paprika to color.
    Cook slowly for one hour.
