Buttermilk Congealed Salad - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 (6 oz.) pkg. Jell-O (any flavor)
1 pkg. Knox unflavored gelatine
1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple with juice
1 (13 1/2 oz.) carton Cool Whip
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
2 c. buttermilk
Preparation

In a saucepan, combine pineapple, Jell-O and gelatine.
Stir to mix well.
Over medium heat, heat to boiling point to dissolve Jell-O and gelatine.
Pour into large bowl and cool.
Place in refrigerator until mixture is the thickness of mayonnaise.
Add nuts and buttermilk and mix well.
Fold in Cool Whip and mix well. Refrigerate and cut in squares for serving.
This makes a very large salad, a long casserole will hold it nicely.
