Southern Pralines - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. packed brown sugar
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/4 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Combine sugars, soda, salt and buttermilk.
    Cook in heavy saucepan or iron pot.
    Cook to 230\u00b0.
    Add butter and vanilla. Beat until thick; add pecans or place one whole half on each pattie after dropped.
    Keep over low heat and dip by tablespoon onto waxed paper.
    Use
    newspaper under waxed paper to keep from sticking to cabinet top.
