Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    cucumbers
    4 tsp. alum
    4 tsp. pickling spice
    4 tsp. pickling salt
    8 c. sugar
Preparation
    Place cucumbers in a gallon jug.
    Then add the 3 spices.
    Fill jug 3/4 full of vinegar and finish with water.
    Put lid on; let set for 6 to 8 weeks.
    Remove cucumbers, wash and prick holes with a fork.
    Place in quart jars.
    Add sugar (2 cups) to each jar. Seal and set aside.
    Turn jars upside down every day or so until sugar dissolves.
    Makes own juice.
