German Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. margarine
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    4 egg yolks
    2 1/2 c. cake flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 pkg. German's sweet chocolate, melted in 1/2 c. boiling water
    3 egg whites, beaten stiff
Preparation
    Cream margarine, shortening and sugar together.
    Beat in egg yolks.
    Sift together cake flour and salt.
    Stir in alternately with mixture of buttermilk and soda.
    Stir in vanilla and chocolate.
    Fold in egg whites.
    Bake 25 minutes at 350\u00b0 in 3 greased, floured and wax paper lined 8-inch round layer pans. Cool on racks.
    Frost.
