Green Tomato Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    24 green tomatoes
    2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. alum
    2 qt. water
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. vinegar
    2 tsp. pickling spice
    sliced pimiento
Preparation
    Slice tomatoes about 1/4-inch thick.
    Sprinkle with salt and let stand overnight.
    In morning, drain and place tomatoes in a solution made with alum and water.
    Let stand for 1 hour.
    Drain. Pack into jars.
