Ingredients

1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. butter
1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 unbeaten egg yolk
1 slightly beaten egg white
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. finely chopped pecans
1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation

Sift together flour and salt.
Cream well the butter and brown sugar.
Blend in unbeaten egg yolk and vanilla.
Add the dry ingredients.
Mix thoroughly.
If desired, chill one hour for easier handling.
Shape dough into balls, 1-inch in diameter.
Dip in slightly beaten egg white, then into chopped pecans.
Place on ungreased baking sheet.
Press deep hole in center of cookie with floured finger or thimble.
Bake in a moderate oven (375\u00b0) for 12 to 15 minutes.
