Date Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. plain flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/4 c. chopped dates
    2 eggs
    1 1/4 c. milk
    1/4 c. melted shortening
Preparation
    Sift dry ingredients together.
    Add dates.
    Beat eggs and add with milk and shortening to dry ingredients.
    Pour in greased loaf pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 until good and brown.
    Test with knife in center; if it comes out clean, it is done.
