Chocolate Iced Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 egg
    1 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Melt shortening and chocolate squares together in double boiler.
    Set aside to cool.
    Mix together soda and buttermilk; set aside.
    Beat together well the brown sugar and egg.
    Add the cooled chocolate mixture and cream well.
    Add flour alternately and mix thoroughly.
    Add the buttermilk mixture.
    Be sure to start and finish these steps with flour.
    Add vanilla.
    Drop by teaspoon on a greased cookie sheet.
    Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 375\u00b0, until cake-like.
    Frost.
