Ingredients

1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1/3 c. dark molasses
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1 Tbsp. boiling water and cooled
3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
Preparation

Blend sugars, shortening, eggs, molasses and baking soda-water mixture. Sift dry ingredients and mix in. Chill and roll 1/8-inch thick. Cut out with round cookie cutter. Sprinkle with sugar and water to form cracks. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 minutes or until done.
