Jim Wentworth'S Southern Pralines - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. soda
    1 pinch salt
    1 c. buttermilk
    6 Tbsp. oleo
    2 c. shelled pecans
Preparation
    Combine sugar, soda, salt and buttermilk in a saucepan. Bring to a boil,
    stirring
    constantly.
    Add
    oleo and pecans; lower heat
    slightly and continue stirring until candy forms a hard ball in
    cold
    water.
    This
    will take a good while.
    You will know you are
    close
    when the candy begins to turn brown from the
    pecans and
    sugar
    cooking down.
    Remove from heat; cool
    slightly, beating constantly.
    Drop by teaspoonful onto waxed paper to harden.
