Ingredients

2 c. brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
4 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
2 eggs
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. water
1 c. walnuts, chopped (original recipe called for 10 cents worth of walnuts!)
Preparation

Cream shortening and brown and white sugar.
Beat in vanilla, eggs and water.
Add flour, cream of tartar and baking soda to creamed mixture.
Add walnuts.
Mixture may be slightly sticky.
