Angel Crisps - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 c. shortening
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Cream sugars, shortening and egg.
    Add vanilla; blend well. Add sifted flour and other dry ingredients.
    Form into balls the size of walnuts.
    Dip top half into water, then into some granulated sugar.
    Place on ungreased baking sheet.
    Press down into the center of each with a finger.
    Decorate center with a walnut half or a candied cherry, if desired.
    Bake at 425\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes.
