Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 c. butter, softened
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
Preparation

Cream butter until soft; add sugar gradually, until light. Beat in egg.
Add vanilla and flour and mix well.
Roll dough into small balls, about 3/4-inch, and place on ungreased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
Press down to flatten with the bottom of a glass dipped into sugar (dip into sugar before each cookie).
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 11 minutes.
Remove from cookie sheet immediately.
