Blue Ribbon White Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    3 c. flour (sift 3 times)
    3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. sweet milk
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    pinch of salt
    8 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar.
    Add baking powder and salt to sifted flour.
    Add flour and milk alternately to creamed mixture. Add vanilla.
    Fold in egg whites by hand.
    Bake at 375\u00b0 for 30 minutes (two 9-inch layers).
