Syrup Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. syrup
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. shortening
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. soda
    2 Tbsp. ginger
    pinch of salt
    self-rising flour
Preparation
    Mix
    together all ingredients except flour and shortening. Beat
    well.
    Add
    shortening
    in flour as in making biscuits. Knead
    until dough is slightly firm.
    Roll out and cut in circles and bake at 350\u00b0 until lightly brown.
