Sweet Potato Sonker - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. shortening
    2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vinegar
    1/2 c. cold water
    3 to 4 medium sweet potatoes, sliced and boiled until tender, reserving 1 1/2 c. liquid
    1/2 c. white sugar
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/4 lb. margarine or butter
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    2 c. milk
    3/4 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. flour
    1 tsp. vanilla flavor
Preparation
    Using first five ingredients make pastry. Cut shortening into flour with pastry blender.
    Beat egg, pour into cup and add 1 teaspoon vinegar and 1/2 cup cold water.
    Mix well.
    Roll out dough to 1/4 inch.
    Line 8 x 8-inch baking dish.
    Sprinkle pastry with 2 teaspoons of the sugar.
    Place potatoes in dish, layering with brown and white sugar, dot with margarine.
    Sprinkle on cinnamon and nutmeg. Pour 1 1/2 cups reserved liquid over ingredients.
    Top with thin crust.
    Bake approximately 12 to 15 minutes at 400\u00b0.
    Bake until slightly brown, remove and brush top with melted butter or margarine and return to oven to continue browning.
