Country Vegetable Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick butter
    1 c. sliced onion
    1 c. sliced carrots
    1 c. sliced turnips
    1 c. sliced celery
    1 c. sliced potatoes
    1 tsp. salt
    4 c. water
    2 chicken bouillon cubes
    1 c. milk or cream
Preparation
    Melt butter in a deep heavy pot.
    Add all the sliced vegetables.
    Cover tightly and stew over low heat for 20 minutes. Chop cooked vegetables; add water.
    Bring to a boil and simmer 20 minutes.
