Sweet Potato Fritters - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    vegetable oil
    6 medium sweet potatoes, peeled
    1 1/2 c. self-rising flour
    1 1/2 c. yellow cornmeal
    1 1/2 c. water
    3 Tbsp. minced green onions (including tops)
    salt
    1/2 tsp. ground mace
    1/8 tsp. ground red pepper (optional)
Preparation
    In a large deep skillet, heat 1-inch of oil to 350\u00b0 on deep-fat thermometer.
    Diagonally slice potatoes 1/4-inch thick. In medium-sized bowl, mix together flour, cornmeal, water, green onions, 2 teaspoons salt, mace and pepper until smooth.
