Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. salt
    3 (1 oz.) bottles red food coloring
    2 eggs
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 1/4 c. cake flour
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 Tbsp. cocoa powder
Preparation
    Mix food coloring and cocoa and set aside.
    Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and coloring paste mix and beat 10 minutes. Add buttermilk, then slowly add flour, salt and vanilla.
    Mix in by hand soda and vinegar.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes in greased and floured pans.
