Ingredients

1 (9-inch) baked pie shell
1/4 c. cornstarch
2/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 c. milk
3 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flaked coconut
6 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation

Mix the cornstarch, sugar, salt and egg yolks with 1/2 cup of the milk.
Heat remaining 2 cups to boiling.
Add the sugar mixture and cook until thick.
Add coconut and vanilla.
Pour in pie shell.
Whip the three egg whites, adding 6 tablespoons sugar. Bake at 425\u00b0 for 5 minutes or until brown.
