Ranchero Raised Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. raisins (optional)
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    2 1/2 c. sifted flour
    1 c. scalded milk
    1/2 c. yellow cornmeal
    1 pkg. yeast
    3 Tbsp. warm water
    1 egg, beaten
Preparation
    Combine raisins, milk, sugar, salt, shortening and cornmeal in bowl.
    Dissolve yeast in warm water and add to mixture.
    Add egg and flour.
    Blend well.
    Drop by spoonfuls into a well-greased 11-inch oblong baking pan.
    Let rise 45 minutes or until doubled in size.
    Bake in a preheated oven at 400\u00b0 for about 20 minutes. Serve hot with butter or jam.
