Ingredients

1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. shortening
4 eggs
3 Tbsp. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. all purpose flour
1 lb. candied pineapple
1 lb. candied cherries
1 lb. candied dates
1 c. flour, to dredge fruit in
6 c. pecans
1/4 c. grape juice
Preparation

Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Add buttermilk, soda and 2 cups of flour.
Cut candied fruits into small pieces and dredge pieces in 1 cup flour.
Mix in fruits and nuts; add grape juice.
Drop on cookie sheet with spoon.
Bake at 300 for 20 minutes.
Makes 4-5 dozen.
