Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    1 large egg
    1 1/2 c. unsweetened applesauce
    2 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. boiling water
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. each: cinnamon, cloves, allspice
    1 c. chopped raisins
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Cream shortening and sugar; blend into egg and applesauce. Combine soda and boiling water.
    Sift together flour, salt, cinnamon, cloves and allspice.
    Add water mixture alternately with flour mixture.
    Blend in raisins and walnuts.
    Bake 1 hour at 350\u00b0.
    Frost with Butterscotch Icing.
