Pigeon Peas And Rice - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 can pigeon peas
    1 1/2 c. uncooked rice
    bacon for seasoning
    1 onion
    dash of thyme
    1 can tomatoes (optional)
Preparation
    Fry bacon; add onion
    and
    saute.
    Add\tpigeon peas and 1/2 can of water.
    Bring to
    a\tboil;
    add rice, dash of thyme and bay leaves.
    Simmer for 15
    to 20 minutes or until rice is soft.
