Cherokee Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    1 can tomatoes
    1 c. Minute rice, uncooked
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. garlic powder
    1/8 tsp. thyme
    1/8 tsp. oregano
    1 bay leaf, cut in half
    1 c. chopped onions
Preparation
    Brown meat; add onions and cook until onions are tender.
    Add tomatoes and soup (not diluted).
    Add rice and seasonings.
    Let simmer about 5 minutes longer if too juicy.
    Add pepper to taste. Put all ingredients in casserole dish; lay strips of cheese across top.
    Bake at 400\u00b0 until cheese is melted.
