Macaroon Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 egg whites
    12 saltines, rolled fine
    12 dates, chopped fine
    1/2 c. pecans, chopped
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. almond flavoring
    dash of salt
Preparation
    Beat egg whites until foamy.
    Gradually beat in sugar until meringue will stand in soft peaks.
    Mix crumbs, dates and nuts together.
    Add baking powder.
    Fold in beaten egg whites.
    Pour into a 9-inch buttered and floured pie pan.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.
    Cool and serve with unsweetened whipped cream.
    Serves 6 to 8.
