Hamburger Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 Tbsp. butter or oleo
    1 chopped onion
    1 1/2 lb. hamburger
    28 oz. can tomatoes
    2 cans beef consomme soup
    2 cans water
    4 medium carrots, chopped
    1 stalk celery, chopped
    10 peppercorns
    1 bay leaf
    10 Tbsp. barley
Preparation
    Saute onion in butter (not browned).
    Add hamburger and fry. (Does not have to be browned.)
    Add all other ingredients and simmer about 1 hour or until tender.
