Eleanor Bain - Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 lb. cucumbers, sliced 1-inch thick
    2 gal. water (cool)
    2 c. slaked lime
    8 c. sugar
    3 pt. vinegar
    2 Tbsp. pickling spices
    2 Tbsp. salt
Preparation
    After cucumbers are soaked, wash and then soak in ice water for 3 hours.
    Drain cucumbers.
    Pour vinegar and sugar over cucumbers and boil for 30 minutes.
    Seal in sterilized jars.
