Divinity Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. granulated sugar
    1/2 c. light corn syrup
    1/2 c. cold water
    2 egg whites
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Place sugar, syrup and water in pan over medium heat.
    Stir only until sugar is dissolved, then cook until a little tried in cold water forms soft ball or 236\u00b0.
    Beat egg whites 2 minutes at high speed until stiff; continue beating and pour 1/2 of syrup over beaten egg whites.
    Continue beating while cooking rest of syrup until it forms hard ball or 264\u00b0.
    Add this syrup gradually to syrup and egg mixture you have been beating.
    Add vanilla and continue beating until candy is thick enough to drop from spoon. Place on buttered platter.
    Chopped nuts may be added just before candy is ready to spoon.
