New England Baked Dinner - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 to 6 lb. ham shank with bone
    1 head cabbage, cut in quarters
    potatoes, peeled and cut in large cubes
    sliced, peeled carrots
Preparation
    Place ham in large Dutch oven.
    Cover with water and cook for 1 hour.
    Add potatoes and carrots.
    Add cabbage and continue to cook until all the vegetables are soft, but not mushy.
    Drain and serve.
