Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. butter or margarine
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg, separated
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. finely chopped pecans or walnuts
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Cream butter; gradually add sugar. Continue creaming until light and fluffy.
Blend in egg yolk and vanilla.
Add sifted dry ingredients; mix thoroughly.
Chill about one hour.
Shape dough into balls 3/4-inch in diameter.
Dip into slightly beaten egg white, then into nuts.
Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
Press hole in center of each cookie with floured finger.
Bake 12 to 15 minutes.
Frost with tinted creamy butter frosting.
