Date And Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. pitted dates, cut small
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 Tbsp. baking soda
    3/4 c. boiling water
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 3/4 c. flour
    1 c. nutmeats
Preparation
    Pour boiling water over the first 3 ingredients and cool 5 minutes.
    Add remaining ingredients.
    Stir all ingredients together.
    Pour in loaf pan.
    Bake 1 hour in moderate oven, 350\u00b0.
