Cocoa Apple Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 eggs
2 c. granulated sugar
2 sticks margarine
1/2 c. water
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. each: baking soda, cinnamon and allspice
1 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate bits
2 c. grated apple
1 Tbsp. vanilla
2 c. milk
4 egg yolks
1/2 c. sugar
1 Tbsp. cornstarch
dash of salt
1 Tbsp. unflavored gelatin, dissolved in 1/4 c. cold water
4 egg whites, well beaten
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. chopped Macadamia nuts
1 Tbsp. rum flavoring
1/2 pt. whipping cream with sugar to taste
1 baked pie shell
Preparation

Scald milk.
Beat egg yolks and add milk slowly.
Add sugar, cornstarch and salt.
Cook over hot water in a double boiler until mixture coats a spoon.
Add dissolved gelatin to hot custard mixture.
Chill until thick.
Add egg whites, 1/2 cup sugar, Macadamia nuts and rum flavoring and fold into chilled custard mixture.
Turn into a baked pie shell.
Chill.
To serve, top with whipped cream sprinkled with chopped Macadamia nuts.
