Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

vegetable oil
1 1/2 c. white corn meal
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt (optional)
3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. finely chopped onion
1 egg, beaten

Preparation

Heat 2 inch deep oil to 375\u00b0.
Combine remaining ingredients; mix well.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls into hot oil, frying a few at a time until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels.
Makes about 2 dozen.
