Potatoes, French Alps Style - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 medium potatoes (about 2 1/4 lb.), pared and thinly sliced
    2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. ground white pepper
    1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
    2 c. shredded Swiss Gruyere cheese
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    3/4 c. broth
Preparation
    Heat oven to 375\u00b0. Place potatoes in 4 layers in buttered 2-quart shallow baking pan, sprinkling each layer with 1/4 of the salt, pepper, nutmeg and cheese. Dot with butter. Pour broth over potatoes. Place pan over direct heat until broth bubbles. Transfer to oven and bake until potatoes are tender, top is brown and broth is absorbed, 1 hour. Makes 6 servings.
