Krispy Sweets - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 Tbsp. canning salt
    2 Tbsp. alum
    1 1/2 Tbsp. mixed pickling spices
    4 c. cold vinegar
    6 c. sugar
    whole small or medium cucumbers
Preparation
    Pack whole small or medium cucumbers into a gallon jar with lid.
    Add salt, alum and spices.
    Add 4 cups cold vinegar and as much water as needed to fill jar.
    Seal jar and let stand for 8 weeks.
    Drain and wash jar (not pickles).
    Cut cucumbers into thick slices and put back in a jar.
    Add 6 cups sugar (no liquid).
    Shake and roll jar several times a day until sugar becomes syrup.
    Will keep months in fridge.
