Buffet Beef Cubes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 lb. beef, cubed
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
    1 bay leaf
    1 large onion, sliced
    3 1/2 c. tomato juice
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. sweet basil
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1 Tbsp. vinegar
Preparation
    Shake beef cubes with flour in bag until cubes are well coated. Brown in shortening in 10-inch skillet.
    Combine tomato juice with sugar, salt, sweet basil, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and vinegar. Add to browned meat; add onion and bay leaf.
    Cover and simmer 2 hours until meat is tender and liquid cooks down to gravy consistency.
    Serve over hot rice.
