Walnut Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. black walnuts, chopped
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. shortening
5 eggs, separated
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flaked coconut
Preparation

Cream butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks; beat well.
Combine buttermilk and baking soda; stir until baking soda is dissolved.
Add flour to creamed mixture, alternating with buttermilk and beginning and ending with flour.
Add vanilla, black walnuts and coconut.
Add cream of tartar to egg whites; beat until stiff.
Fold into batter.
Pour batter into 3 greased and floured 9-inch pans.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
