Ingredients

1 egg, beaten
1 c. white sugar
3/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. molasses
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
Preparation

Mix in order given.
Chill 2 hours or overnight.
Form into balls and roll in sugar.
Place on baking sheet and bake in moderate oven, 375\u00b0, for about 10 minutes.
Do not press them down; they will crack open.
