Texas Smothered Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 lb. boneless beef chuck, cut in 1-inch cubes
    2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 clove garlic, crushed
    1 (14 1/2 to 16 oz.) can tomatoes, chopped
    1 c. beef broth
    1 Tbsp. chili powder
    salt and pepper to taste
    3 c. hot cooked rice
Preparation
    Saute meat
    in oil until brown on all sides.
    Add onion and garlic;
    cook
    5
    minutes longer.
    Stir in tomatoes, broth and seasonings.
    Cover\tand
    simmer
    for
    45 minutes, or until meat is tender.
    If
    desired, thicken gravy.
    Serve over beds of fluffy rice.
    Makes 6 servings.
