Ingredients

1 c. butter or margarine
4 eggs
2 tsp. soda
3 c. flour
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. ground allspice
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. blackberry jam
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. cocoa
1/2 c. nuts
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add beaten eggs and jam, beating until smooth.
Add soda to buttermilk and beat into first mixture alternately with flour which has been sifted with spices.
Add raisins and nuts, pour into three 8-inch well-greased cake pans and bake at 350\u00b0 for 40 to 50 minutes or until cake tests done.
Frost with Caramel Frosting.
