Chinese Pepper Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 sirloin steak (about 2 lb.; 1 1/2-inches thick)
1 or 2 cloves garlic, crushed
    3 green peppers, thinly sliced
    1/4 c. soy sauce
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
6 green onions, cut in 1-inch pieces
1 (6 oz.) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
1/4 c. peanut or vegetable oil
    1 tsp. ginger
    2 sliced onions
    1/2 tsp. sugar
Preparation
Trim fat from the steak and cut in 1/8-inch thick slices (for easier slicing, freeze the steak for about an hour before cutting). Heat the oil in a wok or large pan.
Add ginger (if fresh ginger is used, use a tablespoon instead of a teaspoon) and garlic.
Add steak slices and cook rapidly (1 minute or until the meat is light brown).
Remove the meat with a slotted spoon.
