Squash Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    8 c. sliced squash
    3 or 4 bell peppers, cut up
    3 or 4 onions, cut up
    1 tsp. mustard seed
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Soak squash in ice water with 1/3 salt for 2 hours.
    Drain squash well.
    Bring other ingredients to a boil.
    Put squash in and boil for 3 minutes.
    Put in jars and seal.
    Makes 3 or 4 pints.
